Containers and Classes as Select fields?

Currently, these two boxes are located on the right side. I've determined how to move them to the top and style them via CSS. My question is, is there an easy way to turn these into select boxes instead of the way they are done now? I've already started hacking into the code to try and accomplish this but I figured I would put this out there to determine if there was an easy way to do it (or if someone else has already done it) before I invest a bunch more time in it. Thanks in advance!

P.S. By select boxes I mean:

Just in case it needed clarification.
