Encode HTML Characters

Postby avallo on Fri Aug 29, 2008 9:10 pm

Should WYM be encoding special characters like ® © in the source code view?
When you type in ® or $copy; into the source code view they are converted to the symbol when you submit it.

Or is this something I should be doing before I submit it to the database?

I love the editor, I can't wait tell 0.5 alpha for the inline dialog windows instead of the pop-up windows. May I suggest the jQuery UI dialog, or a way to integrate it into the jQuery UI dialog windows.

Its great to see this editor come back to life.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks,
weston

Encoding special characters is a generally bad idea, it's just a hack to use these kind of characters in encodings that don't support them. And if you're using utf-8 (Unicode) encoding special characters isn't necessary.
