Turning comment removal off

I was looking at this WYMeditor change:

I noticed it says, " Removing comments by default." in reference to the change to line 1902 of xhtml_parser.js.

My question is: other than by hacking this file, is there a way I can turn comment removal off?

Perhaps there is something I can put in the .wymeditor() settings? Or a javascript command I can run before/after calling wymeditor()?
