Your Editor - Link to have a target

Im having problems editing your code to include a target location within the link

target="_blank" for example

or include

class="external"

Please can some one help me.

This issue has been discussed before, please take a look at that thread. However, I do not see why class="external" won't work, could you provide some more details? What happens? Can you apply any classes at all or is it just class="external" that doesn't work?
