Work done/planned on upload functionality?

Postby sitespark on Tue Nov 21, 2006 10:09 am

Hi,

I really like the approach of WYMeditor, and am seriously considering integrating with my CMS.

It seems quite basic, which is a good thing ;) , but I was wondering has image/file upload functionality been planned or factored?

Ideally this woudl allow selection from users computer AND to browse the listing online.

Any thoughts regarding enabling this would be helpful also.

Cheers for all the good work!

Hi,

We're currently planning new features for WYMeditor 0.3, so I can't answer your question right now.
Next stable release (0.2) will not have this feature implemented.

Basically, it's easy to implement in a CMS: simply customize dialogs/image.htm, by adding an upload button, and for instance a listbox with already uploaded images, so when the user selects an image, image_src is populated.

i think something like this should done by the cms-(module-)author or/and as a third party plugin. this shouldn´t be core of wymeditor, but you should provide a "file_browser_callback" for image and link dialog, so that there is no need to edit these files...

i´m looking forward to version 0.3 with plugin api and jQuery. if i can spend time i will work on some plugins for you.

Hey: diabolictrixta

Im also excited by the JQuery integration, it became my AJAX framework of choice, and then I noticed WYM was integrating it.
This is a great coincidence!

After more research I agree it's best using as CMS, not WYS.. component (as per FCK). I CAN integrate FCK file-upload in short term before I decide the best (custom) way to implement file uploads.

Cheers!
