coloured spans?

Hi folks, first, I'm quite excited to find a jQuery based editor with what appears to be a great developer team!

A question, I'm not sure from the examples and forum posts whether it is possible right now to simply highlight some text and turn it into a span with a class name. For me, this is critical as I have clients who want to change their name to their company font and colour whenever it appears in their pages. Is such a thing doable? If not, is there an estimated time on when this might be available?

To clarify, I am aware that WYM is not intending to produce font or colour information, I want to produce nothing more than:

<p>This is a paragraph with <span class="brand_name">The Company</span> in their carefully chosen colours!</p>

There's now an example page with support for abbr, acronym, cite, code, del, ins and span:

We'll also add support for classes on inline elements asap.
