patch for embed tags

Postby sbwoodside on Sun Feb 08, 2009 6:39 am

It's pretty basic at this point, but I made a patch to allow you to put in embed tags. Not very complicated to make, except for exposing a bug in the code that replaces <em> tags in mozilla.

Any chance of adding this support into wymeditor?

Hi!

A lot of users has been requesting this functionality for a long time, the plan is to enable embeding of flash videos (and forms/widgets/etc) though a placeholder system. This would enable the the site manager to decide how videos should be presented, while at the same time require very little of the user.

However, this functionality won't be available before version 0.6 of WYMeditor, so until 0.6 is released your patch could be a way to enable basic embed support for users who want it. I don't think it'll be included in the official release though, as it seam to break Firefox support.

Cheers! ;)

Hi Jonatan, I've made a fork of wymeditor on github adding a pretty stable version of flash embedding support (on by pasting in HTML mode).

I wrote it up also on my blog: http://simonwoodside.com/weblog/2009/2/ ... wym_editor

Incidentally I also included a small fix to the Makefile, because for me at least it was broken: not creating the build/build directory. See http://github.com/sbwoodside/wymeditor/ ... 771f24a311 .
