rewriting WYM with jQuery library

Postby edzo on Wed Jan 24, 2007 6:13 am

Dear Jean-François!

I really like the idea of the WYM as really simple text structure editor. Now I am working on implementing its to my project. I also use jQuery (jQuery.com) widely, and I heard that you plan to use jQuery for next version of the WYM. Do you have already made some steps up this way?

Or maybe I can (now I am somewhere in the point of start rewriting all the WYM code using jQuery) in a more intensive and productive way?
Do you have some nightly builds that can save me from rewriting the code you already refine?

I am not JS expert, but I have some coding skills and strong interface design skills.

Thank you for a good project, and have a good time (and just have some time! :-)

Greetings,
Edzo Hogusava

Yes, I've made some tests with jQuery - you can check them by doing a svn checkout (svn://svn.wymeditor.org/wymeditor), and looking at my branch (branches/jf.hovinne/test).
The most advanced at this time is test 013, which I think will be the code base for 0.3.

Well, it would be preferable to cooperate, of course...

I'll soon release 0.2.2 with some cool new features :), and I think it'll be the last release for 0.2 branch (except bug fixes).
Then I'll start to work seriously on 0.3, so please feel free to contact me if you'd like to help.

jQuery rocks

Postby killer-g on Wed Jan 24, 2007 2:35 pm

i´ll take a look at this implementation because i´m solely using jQuery for everthing.

i think this could really rock the wysiwyg market and tiny / fck really need some clean counterparts!!

you´ll get my feedback. thanks for your work!!

Thank you for pointing out this!

By the way is there any special reason why you drop 0.3-001 (and 002) branches?

Ok! Hope I will be able to bring some help!

Hi,

Will 0.2.2 feature multiple instances on one page? Or do you know of a quick solution to solve this problem?

Thanks

No. This will be possible with next major version (0.3).
