Spell check

Postby Dolittle on Sat Mar 31, 2007 6:29 pm

Is spell check will be integrated into the editor?

Regards.

I am not talking for the dev team now. But I dont think that spellchecking is a problem for WYMeditor to solve. WYMeditors task is to produce valid, accessible and semantic html code in a userfriendly way.

But there is possibilties that we will see contibutions with spellcheck-plugins in the future. But not as a part of the WYMeditor core, if you know what I mean.

Keeping the editor light will be great,
so having several plug-ins like spellcheck will make it even more powerfull.

Not to mension that I need it

If you use Firefox you have access to Spellbound which is a fairly good spell checker.

The problem with a javascript serverside spell checker is that:
1. it uses lots of resources; and
2. speed, or lack of, is a problem

If you use Internet Explorer - get ieSpell.

If you use Firefox, spell checking is built-in the browser.

The advantage of these methods is the user can control their dictionary and language, and can create and keep custom spelt words and use them everywhere on the internet.
