Some editor wishes

Postby cathode on Thu Jun 07, 2007 4:48 pm

I really like where this editor is headed!

Just for kicks, let me describe my dream editor:

1) Start with WYMeditor
2) Include an image uploader and file manager (like in Xinha)
3) Add the ability to create tables (hey, they are useful sometimes)
4) Add the ability to automatically strips out all style and non-markup tags when you past text in
5) Add the ability to automatically convert typed or pasted non-SGML characters to their corresponding UTF-8 codes.

The last two correspond with the biggest problem I face when handing off content-managed sites to clients. They paste in the text from word and it turns into a mess.

1) Yes, thats a really good start! ;)
2) I dont think it wont take long before a plugin of that kind will head up
3) This function is already supported! And it's damn easy to use :)
4) Hell yeah, we've got this too
5) If I'm not wrong, there's already a ticket for this issue

I'm OK with 1)
2) plugins are welcome :)
3) tables are supported - tools to add/remove cells are missing in MSIE though
4) and 5) planned for next release, with the help of a XHTML parser

Then I'll be sticking around these forums and paying attention to the development of this editor :)
